Tend (nurture, guard, guide, and fold)
the flock of God that is [your responsibility],
not by coercion or constraint, but willingly;
not dishonorably motivated by the advantages and profits [belonging to the office],
but eagerly and cheerfully; (1 Peter 5:2 AMP)
There is a group of people that are yours if you choose.
There may be hundreds as in a pastor’s congregation
A couple children in a mamma’s brood.
Maybe a Single’s friend is her brood.
The brood comes by us willingly and even cheerfully.
They so intently need tending.
They need Jesus’ love like their heartbeat,
like their deepest desires
Some of us get lost and have
A need for a soul to help us with our next step.
Sometimes the group is a little down
And we desperately need to play.
The funny dances at a wedding
are a saving grace to one of the brood
Who’s missing having a bride or groom.
Our broods need tender care.
We each are responsible for one or more brood.
Lord, help us lead in the way You would.
We need to come to you for wisdom
Before we give it to them.
Because they need nurture
That only comes from our Savior
In Him being used in community.
